Don’t get burned by another summer holiday nightmare

Posted on | Posted in News

Summer is a supposedly idyllic time of year that most people look forward to. Warm days at the beach, refreshing drinks in the garden, delicious ice creams in the park…

But if you’re a hiring manager looking after roles that need to be constantly resourced – such as reception, call centre, or warehouse – it can feel anything but blissful when your staff start to head off on their summer holidays and you’re left behind to sweat it out, making sure all their tasks are covered.

Damage limitation

Not having your staff where you need them, when you need them, can have a serious knock-on effect on delivering business as usual to your clients and customers. It could really affect your profits and brand reputation – nightmare, right? That’s why “recruit temps” is probably on your to do list – but along with 101 other tasks…

Even if your company usually has a policy of handling recruitment in-house, the responsiveness that’s often needed to ensure appropriately skilled holiday cover means it might actually make more sense for you to use the services of a recruitment agency to fill those full-time and part-time temp jobs in Basingstoke this summer instead.

Save your time and energy

Writing and placing job ads, trawling job sites and LinkedIn, reading CVs, arranging interviews – that’s a lot of time to invest in a temporary employee who probably isn’t going to be working at your organisation for more than the summer (for example, if they’re a student).

Recruitment agencies already have a pool of of engaged, skilled and friendly candidates to approach with your temporary vacancy.

Get access to the right candidates

There are all sorts of highly-skilled candidates in the temporary job market – not just students but others looking for part-time or summer jobs in Basingstoke because of family commitments or because they’re on a career break following a redundancy or period of travel.

With an understanding of the role that needs to be covered and the type of personality you’re looking for, we can match you with the hardworking and reliable staff you need (so that’s one less thing you need to do today).

Our superpower is having a plan B

Even the most reliable candidates can get ill or decide to take up another job offer and there’s no avoiding that risk for any business. However, by working with a recruitment agent you can mitigate it because they can return to their temp listing and find you another skilled candidate at short notice (in less time than it would take to start the whole process of recruitment again yourself).

You won’t go back to square one if a candidate doesn’t work out because with our extensive candidate database we have a plan b, c, d and z!

Futureproofing your summers – and your business

Don’t dread another summer ‘on the back foot’ with your temp recruitment – it really doesn’t have to be this stressful. And with the risk to your business of not filling those roles, it shouldn’t be an afterthought.

When you work with a recruitment agency such as Wote Street People in Basingstoke on a more regular basis, they’ll start to understand your business culture, values and standards, processes, and KPIs so that this summer it’ll a breeze to get your holiday cover sorted – and you can go home on time for a spot of sunshine in the garden!

Let’s talk about how we can match our talented Basingstoke temps with the roles you need covering this summer – and beyond. Just give us a call on 01256 799 127 or email maxine@wotestreetpeople.co.uk
